We celebrated Catholic Schools Week last week and ended it off in style with a beautiful celebration for Grandparents’ Day.
Fr. Hehir officiated a wonderful prayer service in St. Coleman’s church, where the children took part in readings and singing. It was a heart warming to see the church full of smiling, happy families.
Then off to the Community Centre we headed, for a cuppa and a chat, and a few songs and poems from the children.
We would like to thank Fr. Hehir for the delightful service, the Parents’ Association for keeping everyone fed and watered, the Community Council for the use of the hall and to all the Grandparents and family friends that joined in our celebration.
A special mention must go to our Principal, Ms. Irene Finn for coming up with the idea of this celebration. It is the first time Ballintotas NS have celebrated Grandparents’ Day and it was just marvellous to see the whole community coming together. Let’s hope we can make this an annual event from now on!
